A woman pedestrian was struck and killed by a car driving on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach according to local police.
Police were called to the scene of a pedestrian/car accident near Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street around 8:40 p.m Tuesday evening. When police arrived they found an injured 46 year old woman who was hit by a Toyota Sienna according to reports. The woman was taken to a local hospital and pronounce dead sometime afterward.
Early reports indicate that the driver of the Toyota Sienna was an 81 year-old Seal Beach man who was hospitalized for injuries suffered in the accident. The police report that the man is cooperating with authorities.
Initial investigations indicate the woman was struck by the westbound vehicle while crossing PCH. It is unclear if the woman was walking within a crosswalk or if the vehicle ran through a red light.
The investigation is still ongoing and police ask that anyone with information please contact them.
