72-Year-Old Man and Caretaker Struck by Truck in Pedestrian Crossing in Costa Mesa, California

At 4:00 p.m. on May 22, 2019, a 72-year-old man and his caretaker were struck by a dump truck in Costa Mesa while they were crossing the street at Anaheim Avenue between 19th Street and Plumber Street.  While the elderly gentleman managed to avoid major injury, the caretaker unfortunately sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she remains (to our knowledge) in critical condition.  We wish her a quick and speedy recovery.

Incidents like this one are never simple.  What’s the better route to go: file a Worker’s Compensation claim as a caretaker? Or file a personal injury claim against the dump truck company’s insurance?  Major decisions like this are never easy, and should not be taken lightly.  There can be a drastic difference in monetary recovery and compensation if one option is chosen over the other in haste.  Such choices should only be made after consulting with a trained attorney who specializes in personal injury matters.

If you or someone you know has been involved in a significant injury-causing incident such as this, please give our Orange County accident attorneys at Guldjian | Fasel a call at (800) 385-4838.  Don’t take the risk of making such a big decision quickly.  The consultation is 100% free, and when it comes to difficult decisions like this, every bit of help is invaluable to make an informed decision.
